ABOUT THE NAME
The story of Killer Fog is connected to the story of the Canal Digger Irish Red. A plague broke out during the summer of 1826 while the canal laborers were dredging out Summit Lake. In the process of lowering the lake by 9 feet and manually removing 230,000 cubic yards of muck, cholera, typhoid, and malaria broke out and quickly spread throughout the greater Akron area. This plague later became known as the Killer Fog.
